GMC Hummer EV

Due to the ever-increasing demand for trucks and SUVs, GM revived a familiar nameplate in 2022 under its GMC brand and made it fully electric, resulting in GMC's newest halo model. The GMC Hummer EV is available in pickup and SUV forms, but since I have only taken photos of pickups thus far, the primary focus of this post will be on the Hummer EV's pickup or SUT version. Powering the GMC Hummer EV is either a two-motor or three-motor setup. The Hummer EV's two electric motors produce a total of 570 horsepower, while the three-motor setup produces a combined 1000 horsepower and 1200 pound-feet of torque. It launches from zero to 60 mph in as quick as 3.3 seconds due to its Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch control driving mode and has a top speed limited to 106 mph. The Hummer EV's range is up to 311 miles for the two-motor models and 381 miles for the three-motor models equipped with the 24-module battery. Towing capacity is rated at 12,000 pounds for the dual-motor Hummer EV and between 7500 and 8500 pounds for the three-motor Hummer EV.

Not only does the GMC Hummer EV have standard four-wheel steering, but one of its coolest features is known as the Crabwalk. The Crabwalk feature on the Hummer EV allows the vehicle to maneuver sideways up to ten degrees, which is especially useful when going around complex terrain or moving out of tight spaces. Other standard features on the Hummer EV include a height-adjustable air suspension, a five-foot bed, 18 different camera angles, and GM's hands-free driving mode, Super Cruise. Inside, the Hummer EV has a somewhat premium interior adorned in some leather and aluminum trim. Its cabin also adds some moon-inspired design elements, such as in the door speaker covers, floor mats, and infotainment display graphics, and when the vehicle is switched into tow mode, the graphics in the 13.4-inch infotainment display show the Hummer EV towing a spacecraft, which I find pretty cool. A notable option on the Hummer EV is removable roof panels, which can be stowed in the vehicle's front trunk when removed. One of the Hummer EV's most distinctive design aspects is its front LED light bar, which looks fantastic when lit up. Although the front LED light bar is primarily for style purposes, it houses the Hummer EV's turn signals and can display the battery charge level while charging. Its actual front headlights are located below the LED light bar in the front bumper. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that GMC's Multi-Pro tailgate featured on other GMC trucks is standard on its flagship Hummer EV pickup, which can be configured in several different ways to accommodate specific cargo and allow easier access for anyone to step into the vehicle bed, and is my favorite truck bed in the car industry.

Pricing for the GMC Hummer EV starts at $98,845 for the two-motor configuration and $106,945 for the three-motor configuration. To date, I have seen roughly four or five GMC Hummer EVs in person and have only taken photos of the two examples displayed in this post. I saw the first example in black, which is a three-motor pickup, passing through a car meet I was attending in early January, marking the first time I was ever able to take photos of a Hummer EV. I have spotted the second example a few times previously, which appears to be an Edition 1, and have taken photos of it on two separate occasions, once in mid January and the other time in early March. I have seen one Hummer EV SUV in person so far, which occurred twice in the past month, but I have yet to take any photos of it. Overall, the GMC Hummer EV is an absolutely amazing truck with some incredible and insane tech and performance figures, and is at the top of my list of favorite trucks right now.
