The Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest and most performance-oriented Range Rover ever made thus far. This version of the Range Rover Sport was introduced for 2015 as part of the second-generation of the mid-size Range Rover and given a thorough update for 2018. Each example featured in this post is of the updated version from 2018 to 2022, therefore making the latest rendition the main focus of this post. Powering the Range Rover Sport SVR is a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, launching the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in around four seconds and capable of a top speed of 176 mph. Its 5-liter supercharged V8 is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Other notable distinctions between the SVR and the standard Range Rover Sport Supercharged are a sport-tuned air suspension, improved brakes, front sport seats, a sport steering wheel, larger front air vents, and silver quad exhausts. The Range Rover Sport SVR also offers a Carbon Edition (first example above), which adds an exposed carbon-fiber hood, a carbon-fiber engine cover, and carbon-fiber trim on the interior and exterior.
This particular version of the Range Rover Sport is now out of production, as the Range Rover Sport has been fully redesigned for 2023 and is entering its third generation. When new, pricing for the Range Rover Sport SVR started at around $120,000, while the Carbon Edition started at around $130,000. Overall, the high-performance SVR is an underrated sleeper of a Range Rover and SUV in general. Most people wouldn't be able to tell an SVR apart from a standard Range Rover Sport unless they look at it more closely or until it leaves them in the dust. It often gets overlooked compared to other vehicles produced by Jaguar and Land Rover, but the Range Rover Sport SVR deserves a second look among Jaguar/Land Rover vehicles and other luxury and high-performance SUVs.
