2014-15 Porsche 918 Spyder

The Porsche 918 Spyder is the first of three supercars from the 2010s, along with the LaFerrari and McLaren P1, to revolutionize the car industry. It made its debut in 2013 and is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 paired to two electric motors producing a combined 887 horsepower and 944 lb-ft of torque. It can launch from zero to 60 mph in as quick as 2.5 seconds, zero to 100 mph in 4.9 seconds, and reach a top speed of 214 mph. All-wheel drive and a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox are standard on the 918 Spyder. Notable mechanical features include adaptive suspension, electromechanical steering, and carbon ceramic brakes. It has five different drive modes: E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid, and Hot Lap. In pure electric mode, the 918 Spyder can travel up to 12 miles before it automatically switches back to gasoline power. Its hardtop is a two-piece set that can be removed to allow for open-top driving. Inside, the interior is fully lined in leather and contains plenty of upscale features. Also available on the 918 Spyder is the optional and popular Weissach package, which takes the less is more approach, removing certain features such as the radio and air conditioning and adding additional carbon fiber trim and other lightweight materials to conserve as much weight as possible for a significant premium over standard.

Only 918 examples of the Porsche 918 Spyder were ever made between 2013 and 2015, and nearly every 918 Spyder that hits the resale market currently fetches north of $1 million. This particular 918 Spyder was at my local Audi/Porsche dealer at a show that was held there back in September, and it has been at least a few years since I last saw a 918 Spyder up close before that show. In addition, I have seen this specific 918 Spyder at least four or five times previously around town. Overall, the 918 Spyder is an absolutely amazing and incredible supercar and one of the coolest and greatest Porsche models ever made. It's hard to believe that the 918 Spyder is almost ten years old with its gorgeous design and impressive performance, which has aged like fine wine and could pass as a brand new vehicle today.
