Bugatti Chiron/Pur Sport

The Chiron is Bugatti's latest and most recent series of hypercars. It was introduced in 2016 as the replacement for the Veyron and has spawned a variety of different renditions since. In addition, the Chiron was inspired by the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Concept, which I saw up close at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The focus of this post will be on the standard Chiron and the Chiron Pur Sport, which were the two versions of the Chiron that I saw up close for the first time ever at this year's Exotics on Broadway in Monterey in late August. In total, there were three Bugatti Chirons on display at the 2022 Exotics on Broadway and possibly a fourth one that I saw cruising on Fremont Street right by the show. However, I was inside Jack in the Box with my friend when the fourth Chiron passed by, and I was unable to get a photo of that one due to being in a tough spot and a lack of adequate preparation when it happened. I remember it being a standard Chiron with a two-tone black and chrome paint scheme with red accents.

Powering the Chiron is a 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 producing 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It launches from zero to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds, zero to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 6.5 seconds, and is capable of a top speed of 261 mph. The Chiron also features a carbon fiber body structure, independent suspension, and a Haldex all-wheel drive system. Although its 16-cylinder engine is mid-mounted, the Chiron's front vents serve a purpose rather than just for show: to cool its massive 16-inch brakes. Its interior is crafted in the finest-quality materials and contains a C-shaped partition separating the driver and passenger, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and an overall simplistic and timeless design without any screens or other complex technology. It should come as no surprise that the Chiron offers very little cargo space, with as much as two cubic feet of space in its trunk.

As for the Pur Sport, it made its debut in 2020 and is distinguished from other Chiron models by larger front vents, a larger fixed rear wing, a unique rear diffuser, and additional alcantara trim in the cabin. The Pur Sport's suspension and transmission have been tweaked for a greater focus on handling over other versions of the Chiron.

Only 500 total Bugatti Chirons will ever be built, with 60 of them being the standard version and another 60 being the Pur Sport. All 500 units of the Chiron have been accounted for, and each example is worth at least $3 million. Other versions of the Chiron include the Sport and most extreme Super Sport. In all, the Bugatti Chiron is absolutely stunning inside and out. It is also the best, coolest, and craziest Bugatti model yet. I may have been a bit more in awe with the Paganis and Koenigseggs on display at this year's Exotics on Broadway, but seeing any Bugatti model in person is a completely unreal experience, and the Chiron takes that experience to another level.
