2014 Los Angeles Auto Show: Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo Concept

It has been one month since the L.A. Auto Show took place, and I still have quite a bit of content from it to share with you guys, even though a good chunk of it may be old by now. The next vehicle I would like to mention is the Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept. It was designed exclusively for Gran Turismo 6 on PlayStation 3, along with the other Vision GT vehicles (too bad GT6 is not available for PS4). It has a 671-kilowatt laser powered by lithium-ion batteries and an air-powered generator making 900 horsepower. Its 0-60 mph time is claimed to be a blistering 1.5 seconds onto a top speed of 240 mph. This vehicle is named after Chaparral Racing, with whom Chevy has had a racing partnership since the 1960s. One interesting aspect of the Chaparral 2X is its seating position, in which the driver lies on his front side when driving. In my opinion, this seems a bit uncomfortable, especially when traveling at high speeds for a long period of time. The example above is the only scale model in existence and has absolutely zero chance of hitting production. This car may only exist in a video game, but it is completely insane, and it definitely looks the part too. The Chaparral 2X Vision GT also appears as if it came straight out of Tron. Overall, I think it is one of the better futuristic vehicles offered in Gran Turismo 6, along with the Mercedes-AMG Vision GT.
