Porsche 911 Turbo (930 Slantnose)

Like the Speedster from a few posts back, the 930 Slantnose is another one of the most notable and significant classic Porsche 911 models. Porsche offered the Slantnose 911 Turbo through special order beginning in 1986 and in standard production in 1988. Powering the 930 Slantnose is a 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six with 325 horsepower paired to a four-speed manual gearbox. It launches from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and tops out at 173 mph. The Slantnose package on the 930-gen Porsche 911 Turbo was designed to emulate that of the 934 and 935 race cars. It also contained pop-up headlights, while other Slantnose 930s had their headlights integrated into their front bumpers. Besides the coupe, the 930-gen 911 Turbo Slantnose came in roadster and Targa forms as well. Inside, this particular 930 Slantnose is lined in beige leather and polished wood trim.

The Slantnose version of the 930-gen Porsche 911 Turbo is quite rare, with less than 1,000 total units ever made and about 160 of them imported to the U.S. It also commands a significant premium over other classic Porsche 911s, with the average 930 Slantnose currently selling in the $200,000s on the resale market. I have seen a few of these specific classic Porsche 911s in person, and featured in this post was the most recent sighting at my local Cars and Coffee early last month. Overall, the 930 Slantnose is a stunning, incredible, and underrated Porsche 911 and one of the coolest and most fascinating Porsche models ever built.
