Koenigsegg Regera

The Regera is similar to nearly every other Koenigsegg model, except it is fundamentally different to an extent. It made its debut in 2016 and was in production until 2020. Regera means 'to reign' in Swedish, and the main aspect that makes this Koenigsegg model unique from other Koenigseggs is its hybrid powertrain, which is designed solely to improve performance rather than fuel economy. Powering the Regera is a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 mated to three electric motors making a combined 1,500 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. It launches from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 251 mph. It may not be the fastest car in the world, but the Regera boasts the world record for its zero-249 mph-zero time of 31.49 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a single-speed direct-drive gearbox. In addition, the Regera has distinctive styling that many enthusiasts will be able to differentiate from other Koenigseggs, and it is positioned as more of a luxury grand tourer and daily driver compared to the Agera and current Jesko.

Active aerodynamic components and an adjustable suspension system keep the Regera stable at high speeds. It also features creature comforts that most people wouldn't expect to find in a hypercar of its magnitude, such as leather, power-operated seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-angle camera system, and Autoskin, which can automatically power open and close the doors, front trunk, and hood remotely using the vehicle's hydraulic system. Autoskin is operated via the Regera's key fob. Koenigsegg has limited production of the Regera to 80 total units, which started at just under $2 million when new and all sold out instantly. Like every Koenigsegg model and especially the Agera and Jesko, the Regera is an amazing, stunning, unbelievable, and incredibly cool supercar. There were two Regeras on display when I was in attendance at this year's Exotics on Broadway in Monterey a few weeks ago, and although I was a tad more fascinated by the Ageras and Jeskos at that show, I was absolutely blown away by the Regera and view it as one of the coolest cars in existence.
