Next up in concluding the 2018 calendar year is Part 1 of the Best of Car Shows 2018 two-part series. Like the Best of Car Spotting 2018 series, Part 1 of Best of Car Shows 2018 consists of the best and most unusual vehicles I captured photos of from January to June, except at car shows I attended during that time. Noble M400

On this site, I enjoy placing amazing vehicles that don't get enough recognition in the spotlight. The Noble M400 is another example of those instances. For those who aren't familiar, Noble is a British sports car manufacturer known for maximum performance in its purest form. The M400 debuted for the 2005 model year as an evolution of the earlier M12 and was produced until 2008. It uses a mid-mounted 3.0-liter twin-turbo Ford Duratec V6 making 425 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This mid-engine British supercar goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 187 mph. Its twin-turbo V6 is mated to a Getrag six-speed manual. Unlike most modern cars, the Noble M400 lacks certain features such as anti-lock brakes, traction control, and launch control. As you may be able to notice in the interior shots, the example above has been fitted with an aftermarket audio system where the glovebox would be located in most cars. An average used Noble M400 would sell for anywhere between $50k and $80k. Noble has replaced the M400 with the current M600. Also, there is an updated version of the M400 for the U.S. known as the Rossion Q1, which is still produced today. Back to the M400, I wouldn't have one as a daily driver, but it is a great performance vehicle, especially on the track, a mountain road, or an open stretch of highway.

Subaru 360

Featured here is the first model in Subaru's history, the 360. It was produced from 1958 to 1971 with 392,000 units created in total and 10,000 of them making their way Stateside. Under the boot is a two-cylinder engine producing only 25 horsepower. The 360 goes from 0 to 60 mph in about 37.5 seconds; it is by no means a performance car. As you would expect from a car like this, it had very poor handling and was lacking in terms of amenities. Also, it is a lot smaller and less powerful than the original Volkswagen Beetle. Simply put, the Subaru 360 was designed for Japanese tastes in mind and not so much for American tastes. Today, like several underappreciated vehicles in history, Subaru's first model has gained a cult following among a select group of enthusiasts and collectors. I would never want to own one of these, but I respect the Subaru 360 for being a quirky car that not too many people know of.
