Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS (992.2)

 

Like with most of the Porsche 911 lineup, the mid-level Carrera 4 GTS has received a mid-cycle refresh for 2025. However, unlike all other Porsche 911 models before it, the latest Carrera GTS adds some significant new performance-enhancing technology, mainly in the form of the T-Hybrid system. Powering the new 911 Carrera GTS is a 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six mated to a single electric motor generating a combined 532 horsepower and 449 pound-feet of torque. This new setup sends power to either the rear wheels or all four wheels through an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Porsche claims that the latest Carrera GTS can launch from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and accomplish a top speed of 194 mph, both of which are slight improvements over the previous 992.1 Carrera GTS. The first-for-Porsche T-Hybrid system consists of a single electric turbocharger, an electric motor that houses the eight-speed PDK transmission, a 400-volt electrical system, and a 1.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motor adds up to 54 horsepower and 110 pound-feet of torque to the new Carrera GTS. Aesthetically, the 992.2 Carrera GTS gains new model-specific bumpers, with the front bumpers featuring active shutters for better-directed airflow through the vehicle and a lower drag coefficient than its predecessor. 

The 992.2 Carrera GTS received the same interior revisions as the rest of the 992.2 Porsche 911 models, most notably a new start button replacing the twisting ignition switch to the left of the steering wheel. Pricing for the latest Porsche 911 Carrera GTS starts at $166,895, while the Carrera 4 GTS starts at $174,695. Pictured here is the first 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS I have ever seen in person, which I spotted near a car show I attended Friday evening. It appears to have been recently purchased and is finished a bright silver with a relatively narrow black stripe down the middle and an optional rear wing. This particular spec looks incredible, and it was more amazing spotting one considering that it is one of the latest Porsche 911 models with revolutionary technology and the first of this specific model that I saw up close. Overall, the new Carrera GTS is a beautiful and impressive sports car and one of the best all-around Porsche 911s available.
