Bugatti Chiron

The next biggest showstoppers at this year's Exotics on Broadway besides Pagani and Koenigsegg were the Bugattis, in which there were three on display and a fourth one I spotted just outside the show. The first of these Bugattis that I would like to feature is the Chiron, one of the most recent models from the French boutique supercar manufacturer. This post will focus mainly on the standard and Pur Sport versions of the Chiron, the two versions I saw that day in Monterey. Bugatti debuted the Chiron in 2016, with the Pur Sport added to the Chiron portfolio in 2020. Powering all Bugatti Chiron models is an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 sending power to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 8.0-liter W16 produces 1500 horsepower and 1180 pound-feet of torque in the base Chiron and Chiron Pur Sport. According to Bugatti, the Chiron and Chiron Pur Sport can launch from zero to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 261 mph.

Like every modern Bugatti, the Chiron is as luxurious as it is fast. It may not have digital interfaces, driver-assistance features, or the most recent tech, but the Chiron offers a lavish, timeless cabin constructed using only the finest materials. Quad LED headlights, full power accessories, a carbon-fiber body, and an independent suspension are standard on every version of the Chiron. Another signature element of the Chiron is a C-shaped design cue sculpted into its side panels, and this is reflected in the cabin partition separating the driver and passenger.

As for the Pur Sport, it is a handling-focused version of the Chiron. Distinguishing the Pur Sport from other Chiron models, especially the standard Chiron, are a large fixed rear wing, lightweight titanium exhaust, revised suspension, bigger front grille design, 200 additional rpm on the tachometer, front fender vents above the front wheels known as "aero blades," and an additional use of alcantara, aluminum, and titanium in the cabin.

Bugatti produced a total of 500 units of the Chiron from 2016 to 2022, including 100 base Chirons and 60 Chiron Pur Sports. Pricing started at $3.3 million for the standard Chiron and $3.6 million for the Chiron Pur Sport. Two Chiron Pur Sports were present at this year's Exotics on Broadway show along with one base Chiron I spotted just outside the show, compared to two base Chirons and one Chiron Pur Sport last year. This brings my total to six Chirons that I've seen up close thus far: three base Chirons and three Chiron Pur Sports. Overall, the Bugatti Chiron is one of the coolest and most impressive cars on the planet and one of the greatest combinations of pure speed and opulence in the car industry. Other than Pagani and Koenigsegg, the Bugattis are one of the biggest reasons why the past two Exotics on Broadway shows have been absolutely worth attending, and I look forward to attending these shows every year. All Bugattis are amazing, incredible, and out-of-this-world vehicles, but if I had to choose a favorite Bugatti, it would be the Chiron because it has the best design of any Bugatti and performs better than nearly every other car in existence.

Koenigsegg CCX (2006-10)

The final part of the Koenigsegg at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries concludes with the CCX. It was introduced in 2006 as the third-ever Koenigsegg production vehicle, a refined CCR, and the first Koenigsegg to officially be imported to the U.S. In fact, one of the biggest reasons Koenigsegg updated the CCR into the CCX is so the CCX can comply with U.S. federal vehicle and emissions regulations. CCX stood for Competition Coupe X, with the X marking the tenth anniversary of the original Koenigsegg CC prototype when the CCX debuted in 2006. Powering the CCX is a twin-supercharged 4.7-liter V8 with 806 horsepower and 679 pound-feet of torque paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed sequential manual gearbox. It launches from zero to 60 mph in the low three-second range and can hit a top speed of 245 mph. Like practically every Koenigsegg model, the CCX features a body constructed of carbon fiber and kevlar, dihedral synchro-helix doors, a removable hardtop, and a lavish, high-quality interior.

Only 30 CCXs along with a handful of CCXRs were ever built until Koenigsegg replaced the CCX with the Agera in 2011. Pricing for the CCX started at $695,000 when new but has appreciated to around $1 million today. Two CCXs were present at this year's Exotics on Broadway in Monterey last month compared to three last year. The two examples from this year's show were different than the three that showed up at last year's show. The CCX may not be my favorite or the coolest Koenigsegg, but it is still an absolutely amazing supercar and one of the most impressive vehicles from the late 2000s. This wraps up my Koenigsegg at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries; next up, I will showcase the Bugattis from this year's Exotics on Broadway on this site. I happened to see four Bugattis at that show this year, and you won't want to miss them.

Koenigsegg Regera (2016-22)

Part 3 of the Koenigsegg at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries covers the Regera. Translating to "reign" in Swedish, the Regera was introduced for 2016 as the first Koenigsegg model to feature a hybrid powertrain. Powering the Regera is a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 mated to three electric motors producing a combined 1100 horsepower on pump gas, 1500 horsepower on E85, and 1475 pound-feet of torque. It utilizes a single-speed Direct Drive gearbox sending power from its V8 and electric motors to the rear wheels. The Regera launches from zero to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 255 mph. It also claims the world record for fastest 0-249 mph-0 time of 31.49 seconds. An adjustable suspension and active aerodynamic components help keep the Regera stable at high speeds. Like practically every other Koenigsegg, the Regera contains a body constructed of mainly carbon fiber and kevlar, dihedral doors, a removable hardtop, and a front trunk. Inside, the Regera's cabin is swathed in leather along with some carbon fiber and aluminum trim, and features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with onboard Wi-Fi, satellite navigation, and Apple CarPlay. In addition, the Regera is the first Koenigsegg to be equipped with Autoskin, a function that opens and closes the doors, hood, and front trunk all at once with the push of a button.

Only 80 units of the Koenigsegg Regera were ever built, and production for the Regera wrapped up in 2022. It is currently valued at around $3 million on the resale market. Like last year's Exotics on Broadway show, there were two Regeras on display at this year's Exotics on Broadway, except one of the examples was different than before. This brings my total to three Regeras that I've seen in person thus far. Overall, the Koenigsegg Regera is an amazing, insane, and impressive hypercar that shares many characteristics with other Koenigsegg models but is unique and special in its own right. The fourth and final installment of the Koenigsegg at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries is coming up in the next post.

Koenigsegg Agera RS/FE

Next up in the Koenigseggs of Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries is the Agera RS and FE. The RS was added to the Agera portfolio in 2015, while the FE (Final Edition) was added in 2016. Both the Agera RS and FE are motivated by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 1160 horsepower and 940 pound-feet of torque in the RS and 1341 horsepower and 1000 pound-feet of torque in the FE and RS with the 1MW (Megawatt) package. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with paddle shifters. It can launch from zero to 60 mph in around 2.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 277.9 mph, the latter of which currently holds the world record for the fastest top speed in a production vehicle. Like nearly every Koenigsegg, the Agera RS and FE come standard with dihedral synchro-helix doors and a detachable hardtop. A hydraulic lift system that helps clear speed bumps, curbs, and steep driveways more easily and a front trunk with storage space for some items also come standard on the Agera RS and FE. Its body is made almost entirely of carbon fiber, while its interior is outfitted in mostly carbon fiber, leather, alcantara, and suede trim. Koenigsegg allocated only 25 examples of the Agera RS for production, and no two Agera RS' are the same. Two of these examples were on display at this year's Exotics on Broadway show, specifically Draken and the 277.9-mph world-record vehicle. I should mention that the 277.9-mph world-record holder Agera RS has a much cleaner look to it now compared to last year, when it had a vibrant and unusual wrap covering the vehicle. Each Agera RS carried a starting price of around $2.55 million but is now worth well over $3 million on the resale market.

As for the other two Agera models on display at this year's Exotics on Broadway, these examples were of the Final Edition, which is based heavily on the Agera RS. Nicknamed "Thor" and "Vader," these two were two of three Final Edition Ageras and the last two Ageras ever made. Both of these stand out from other versions of the Agera by adding unique paint designs, large rear wings, sets of front canards, and front splitters. In addition, "Thor" features a Le Mans endurance racing-style central fin, while "Vader" excludes a prominent central fin. The four examples shown here now bring my total to six Ageras that I have seen up close, regardless of version. Like with the Jesko and CC850 in the previous post, it would be ideal for me if I had gotten more photos of each of these Ageras when I was at Exotics on Broadway nearly four weeks ago, but they were leaving the show right as I saw them, but I still got some solid pics nonetheless. Overall, the Koenigsegg Agera RS and FE are two of my all-time favorite cars, two of the absolute coolest and most amazing cars ever made, and two of the greatest and most impressive cars from this year's Exotics on Broadway. Stay tuned for Parts 3 and 4 of the Koenigsegg at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries coming up in the next two posts.

Koenigsegg Jesko & CC850

Next up in my content from this year's Exotics on Broadway are vehicles featured from another significant marquee supercar manufacturer: Koenigsegg. Like Pagani, Koenigsegg makes some of the coolest, fastest, and most impressive cars on the planet. The first of several Koenigsegg models from Exotics on Broadway 2023 that I want to dive into are two of the Swedish supercar manufacturer's newest models, the Jesko and CC850. The main reason both the Jesko and CC850 are the focus of this specific post is that I was unable to take any more photos of these two examples besides the ones here before they left and as they were leaving the show.

Koenigsegg first debuted the Jesko at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show as the replacement for the Agera range of models. The finalized production version of the Jesko began rolling out starting for the 2021 model year. It is powered by a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 with 1280 horsepower and 1106 pound-feet of torque on pump gas, but can make as much as 1600 horsepower on E85. The Jesko's V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a 9-speed multi-clutch LST, or Light Speed Transmission. Its 0-60-mph time is estimated to be around 2.5 seconds. Top speed is expected to reach over 300 mph, but that has yet to be tested and confirmed. The Jesko is named after Koenigsegg founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg's father, Jesko von Koenigsegg. It comes in two forms: the standard high-downforce Attack, which is featured in this post, and the high-speed Absolut, which forgoes the large rear wing for two rear flaps among other not-as-significant styling changes.

Every Jesko model comes standard with rear-wheel steering, which helps improve cornering, maneuverability, and steering. It also features Koenigsegg's Autoskin, which opens every body panel on the vehicle with the press of a button. Like nearly every Koenigsegg model ever made, the Jesko and CC850 have dihedral doors and detachable hardtops. In addition, the Autoskin on the Jesko adds sensors that prevent the doors from opening in scenarios where there is an obstruction that could damage the doors. According to Koenigsegg, the Jesko can produce 1764 pounds of downforce at 155 mph and up to 3086 pounds at greater speeds. Its interior is swathed in leather, carbon fiber, aluminum, and other upscale trim, and features a 9-inch center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay compatibility. Only 125 units of the Jesko will ever be built, and each one starts at around $3 million.

The CC850 was revealed during Monterey Car Week last year but wasn't showcased at Exotics on Broadway in 2022. It was presented as a 20th anniversary tribute to the first-ever Koenigsegg production supercar, the CC8S. Powering the CC850 is a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 with 1169 horsepower on pump gas, 1385 horsepower on E85, and 1020 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a unique new gearbox known as the Engage Shift System, which can operate as both a 9-speed automatic and a gated 6-speed manual with a real clutch pedal. It also modernizes the CC8S' original design with LED headlights and taillights while staying true to its roots by keeping the analog gauge cluster instead of replacing it with a digital one. Koenigsegg initially planned to produce only 50 units of the CC850 in honor of company founder Christian von Koenigsegg's 50th birthday, but an extra 20 units will be made due to greater demand for the vehicle.

Koenigsegg showcased a blue Jesko Attack and a silver CC850 at this year's rendition of Exotics on Broadway. The Swedish supercar company brought an orange Jesko Attack and a gray Jesko Absolut to last year's Exotics on Broadway show, bringing my total to three Jeskos that I have seen up close. This marks my first time seeing the CC850 up close. I wish I had gotten more photos of this specific Jesko and CC850, but the timing and large crowds made it tough this year. Hope I can get more than just a few photos of each of these Koenigseggs at next year's Exotics on Broadway or in a different context. Out of all Koenigseggs present at Exotics on Broadway this year, these two stood out to me the most since I had never previously seen the CC850 in person before this show, and I absolutely love the Jesko. Overall, the Koenigsegg Jesko and CC850 are amazing and incredible supercars with mind-boggling stats and performance, and two of the coolest and most jaw-dropping vehicles from Exotics on Broadway 2023. In fact, if I could only choose one favorite Koenigsegg, it would be the Jesko because it optimizes everything fantastic and impressive about Koenigsegg and takes that to the next level.

Pagani Huayra R

The final part of the Pagani at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries concludes with the most extreme Huayra of them all, the track-only Huayra R. It made its debut in 2021 as a successor to the Zonda R and a sendoff to the Huayra range of supercars. Unlike its road-going versions, the Huayra R is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter AMG V12 developed and built by HWA AG, a racing subsidiary of Mercedes-AMG, producing a whopping 838 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque paired to a six-speed sequential manual transmission. It launches from zero to 60 mph in the low three-second range. The Huayra R shares more in common with the Zonda R than any other Huayra and features extensive weight-saving measures and a lower-slung profile. Only the side mirrors and Pagani titanium bolts carry over from other Huayra models to the Huayra R. Its body is made of mostly carbon-titanium and carbon triax with several functional vents everywhere on the vehicle. Another signature design element of the Huayra R is its large carbon-fiber fixed rear wing with two moveable aluminum flaps on top of it. In addition, since it is a track-only race car, the Huayra R doesn't have a rear window. With all of its additional weight-saving measures, Pagani claims a dry weight of 2,314 pounds for the Huayra R.

Only 30 units of the Huayra R will ever be built, with pricing starting at around $3.5 million. Pagani announced and unveiled the replacement for the Huayra about a year ago, which is known as the Utopia. I've seen a few video clips of the Huayra R on the track, and seeing it speed down the track and hearing the raw, throaty shrill of its V12 was absolutely glorious. The example featured in this post that was at this year's Exotics on Broadway was not only the first Huayra R that I've seen up close, but it stood out more than any other Pagani and arguably any other car on display there. The Pagani Huayra was already a rolling work of art and one of the coolest cars in the world, but the Huayra R takes that formula, adds steroids, and turns it into an entirely different and completely insane beast.

This wraps up the Pagani at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries on Carson's Car Pics. The 14 Paganis on display at the biggest event of Monterey Car Week this year are the most Paganis I've ever seen up close together in my life. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more Paganis in person again sometime soon, especially the Zonda and Utopia, the two Pagani models I have yet to see in person. In the next few posts, I will feature supercars from Swedish boutique manufacturer Koenigsegg, another notable and significant presence at Exotics on Broadway.
