Part 3 of the Koenigsegg at Exotics on Broadway 2023 miniseries covers the Regera. Translating to "reign" in Swedish, the Regera was introduced for 2016 as the first Koenigsegg model to feature a hybrid powertrain. Powering the Regera is a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 mated to three electric motors producing a combined 1100 horsepower on pump gas, 1500 horsepower on E85, and 1475 pound-feet of torque. It utilizes a single-speed Direct Drive gearbox sending power from its V8 and electric motors to the rear wheels. The Regera launches from zero to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 255 mph. It also claims the world record for fastest 0-249 mph-0 time of 31.49 seconds. An adjustable suspension and active aerodynamic components help keep the Regera stable at high speeds. Like practically every other Koenigsegg, the Regera contains a body constructed of mainly carbon fiber and kevlar, dihedral doors, a removable hardtop, and a front trunk. Inside, the Regera's cabin is swathed in leather along with some carbon fiber and aluminum trim, and features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with onboard Wi-Fi, satellite navigation, and Apple CarPlay. In addition, the Regera is the first Koenigsegg to be equipped with Autoskin, a function that opens and closes the doors, hood, and front trunk all at once with the push of a button.
Only 80 units of the Koenigsegg Regera were ever built, and production for the Regera wrapped up in 2022. It is currently valued at around $3 million on the resale market. Like last year's Exotics on Broadway show, there were two Regeras on display at this year's Exotics on Broadway, except one of the examples was different than before. This brings my total to three Regeras that I've seen in person thus far. Overall, the Koenigsegg Regera is an amazing, insane, and impressive hypercar that shares many characteristics with other Koenigsegg models but is unique and special in its own right.
