Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

The GT4 RS is the coolest and most potent Porsche Cayman yet. It was added to the 718 Cayman/Boxster lineup in 2021 for the 2022 model year and can truly compete head-on with some Porsche 911 models, especially the current 911 GT3. Powering the Cayman GT4 RS is the 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six from the 911 GT3 producing 493 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque, 9 horsepower and 15 pound-feet less than the GT3. It launches from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 196 mph. The GT4 RS also adds a larger rear wing with "swan neck" supports, more vents and aerodynamic components, air intakes in place of the rear quarter windows, a stiffer suspension, a unique front splitter, and larger wheel arches over other Cayman models. Other important features of the Cayman GT4 RS include center-lock wheels, a front-axle lift system, decals for badging instead of actual badges, and a suede-trimmed interior with racing seats and straps for interior door handles. Both examples showcased in this post have been fitted with the Weissach package, which contains a clear-coated carbon fiber hood, rear wing, and other trim, magnesium wheels, special seat embroidery, titanium exhaust tips, and large "PORSCHE" lettering on the top of the rear window.

Pricing for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS starts at around $144,000, but with high demand and dealer markup, the GT4 RS will never sell for anything below $250k. These two marked the first examples of the GT4 RS that I have seen in person, which occurred at my local Audi/Porsche dealer early last month. It was a long time coming but well worth the wait. In addition, there is also an open-top version of the GT4 RS known as the 718 Spyder RS that has already been unveiled and will make its way to showrooms soon. Both the GT4 RS and Spyder RS will more than likely be the last purely internal-combustion-powered Cayman/Boxster, as the next 718 Boxster/Cayman is expected to feature hybrid and/or possibly electric powertrains. Overall, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the coolest and greatest Boxster/Cayman ever built and one of the most impressive Porsche vehicles in recent memory. This was made even more special by having seen two in person for the first time fairly recently.
