The 512 TR is an updated rendition of the original Ferrari Testarossa. It was introduced for the 1991 model year and is powered by a 4.9-liter V12 with up to 428 horsepower and 362 pound-feet of torque paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The launch from zero to 60 mph in the 512 TR occurs in approximately 4.8 seconds, while its top speed is listed at 195 mph. The most notable exterior styling changes on the 512 TR over the original Testarossa consist of a restyled front end with a smaller, more rounded grille and an increased use of body-colored panels. As for mechanical improvements, the 512 TR's engine, air intake system, brakes, and exhaust have all been revamped for improved performance over its predecessor. In addition, the 512 TR received some interior updates, such as the separation of the dashboard and center console and relocation of climate controls.
Production for the Ferrari 512 TR lasted until 1994, when it was replaced by a further evolution of the Testarossa known as the F512 M. The average 512 TR currently sells for between $250,000 and $300,000 on the resale market. I saw this particular 512 TR on display at my first car meet of 2025 on Saturday, and it was a pleasant surprise considering it may have been several years since I last saw one in the flesh. Not only is it quite rare, but this 512 TR was certainly one of the coolest and most intriguing cars that appeared at my first car meet of 2025. Overall, the Ferrari 512 TR is an automotive and pop culture icon of the 90s and an absolutely amazing and beautiful classic supercar.
