The Artura is McLaren's current and latest rendition of its entry-level Sport Series models. It is all-new for 2023, replacing the 570S in the McLaren lineup of sports cars/supercars. Powering the Artura is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 mated to an electric motor, a first for a "mainstream" McLaren, producing a combined 671 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque sending power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It launches from zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and claims a top speed of 205 mph. It is underpinned by a new lightweight platform known as MCLA and features prominent air vents, scissor doors, and a cabin more spacious than that of the 720S. Alongside the Artura's twin-turbo hybrid V6 below the rear of the interior is a 7.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This powertrain combo can provide up 11 miles of all-electric driving range. Inside, the Artura's interior is similar to those of most other McLaren models, featuring a minimalist and functional design trimmed in mostly leather and microsuede. It also contains standard power-operated seats, an eight-inch vertical center touchscreen, and a front trunk with up to six cubic feet of cargo space.
Pricing for the McLaren Artura starts at $237,500. I hadn't seen an Artura in person until earlier this month, when one passed through my local Cars and Coffee that I attend every month. This fact of the matter made this Artura more intriguing than most vehicles that showed up that day. It may not be the best or most appealing McLaren model, but the Artura is a great and fascinating sports car. The latest entry-level McLaren was made even more special in that moment since it was the first example of that model that I've seen up close and is still fairly new in the McLaren portfolio.
