Ford Mustang Mach E

Due to current automotive market trends, Ford took the Mustang and morphed it into an electric crossover to create the Mach E. It is part of a growing electric crossover segment that includes the likes of the Tesla Model Y and the Volkswagen ID.4. Powering the Mach E is either a standard 70-kWh battery or an extended-range 91-kWh battery, which the latter is standard in the GT model. Since I haven't seen the GT model up close and all of the Mach Es I have seen in person are of the regular models, I will mainly focus on the standard Mustang Mach E for this post, which produces anywhere from 266 to 346 horsepower and 317 to 428 lb-ft of torque. It launches from zero to 60 mph in around five seconds and has a top speed limited to 114 mph. The Mach E is available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and can travel anywhere from 211 to 305 miles on a single charge depending on the trim level and drivetrain. Its interior is laid out pretty well, consisting of a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, a large 15.5-inch vertical touchscreen interface with Ford's SYNC infotainment system that rolls out over-the-air updates periodically, and other high-tech features. Also available with the Mach E are the driver's phone doubling as a key, a panoramic fixed-glass roof, and driver aids such as a 360-degree camera and Ford's BlueCruise and Active Park Assist 2.0.

Pricing for the Ford Mustang Mach E starts at $43,995. While many car enthusiasts, especially Mustang purists, don't enjoy the Mach E and claim that it isn't a real Mustang, I think the Mach E is a solid electric crossover with decent performance. I don't like the Mach E as much as the traditional Mustang and think that Ford may have been better off not referring to this electric crossover as a Mustang. However, Ford includes the Mustang name with the vehicle mainly for marketing purposes, and the Mach E deserves more respect from the car community for what the vehicle is capable of more than anything else.
