Delahaye 135 M/MS
Another spotlight of the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance was on Delahaye, the famed French automaker established in 1896 and lasted until 1954. Its vehicles generally emphasize form over function, especially during its heyday, and the Type 135 is no different. The examples shown here are designed by various coachbuilders, such as Figoni et Falaschi, Franay, Letourner & Marchand, Guillore, and Chapron. It is nearly impossible to find a straight line in the design of the 135 and many other vehicles of the Art Deco Era. The Type 135 replaced the Type 138 in Delahaye's lineup for the 1935 model year. It is powered by a 3.5-liter inline-six making anywhere from 95 to 145 horsepower. 0 to 60 times were estimated to be in the 9-10 second range. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual. Depending on its condition, the Delahaye 135 can be had for anywhere between $500k and $10 million at either an auction or any exclusive marketplace. It is just unreal viewing it in the flesh. I have no idea how this vehicle drives, but I'm certain that it has a completely different feel than most cars. Owning one of these beauties may be challenging in many ways but is definitely worth the risk.
