Cadillac XT5

The 2017 Cadillac XT5 made its live debut at the 2015 L.A. Auto Show in November, and will replace the SRX in Cadillac's lineup. The SRX is Cadillac's best-selling and least appealing model in recent times, and the XT5 is poised to change that. It is powered by the 3.6-liter V6 used in the ATS and CTS with 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, mated to a new eight-speed automatic. The XT5 utilizes a new architecture consisting of mostly aluminum, shedding 278 pounds from its predecessor. It is also significantly lighter than a few of its German competitors, weighing in at 3999 pounds (FWD) and 4277 pounds (AWD) respectively. The AWD system on the XT5 is capable of transferring all of the engine's torque to either front or rear axle. The most notable feature inside the XT5 is Cadillac's Rear Camera Mirror, which also comes standard in the new CT6 sedan. This feature allows drivers to "see through" the rear pillars and the rear-seat passengers' heads for greater visibility. The XT5 also contains an improved version of Cadillac's CUE infotainment system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A few weeks ago, Cadillac announced the starting price for the XT5 crossover, which is just under $40k; a fully loaded XT5 will cost around $63k. I think the Cadillac XT5 is pretty nice and will have an easier time competing with premium crossovers from Europe and Japan; however, most new Caddies are much more appealing to me, especially the ATS-V, CTS-V, and Escalade.
