The GT4 is a track-focused version of Porsche's mid-engine Cayman sports car, slotting in between the mid-level GTS and more extreme GT4 RS models. Its latest version was added to the 718 Cayman/Boxster portfolio for the 2020 model year and is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six with 414 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque paired to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The 718 Cayman GT4 launches from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds with the six-speed manual, while the seven-speed PDK shaves roughly a few seconds off of that initial 0-60 mph time. Its top speed is rated at 188 mph. The 718 Cayman GT4 shares its front axle and many of its rear suspension components with the 911 GT3. It also features a revised, more aggressive front fascia, adjustable rear wing, and a lower, stiffer suspension than lesser 718 Cayman versions.
Porsche dropped the Cayman GT4 from the 718 portfolio after the 2024 model year, with the Cayman GT4/Spyder RS fully taking over as Porsche's current flagship mid-engine sports car. Pricing for the 718 Cayman GT4 started at around $108,000 when new. This particular Cayman GT4 earned a dedicated post on Carson's Car Pics due to it being more unique than others and the special circumstances in which I spotted it in. I stumbled on this specific 718 Cayman GT4 in Downtown San Jose near the San Pedro Square Market on my way to attend the Sharks season finale against the Oilers at SAP Center last week. It was by far the coolest car I spotted during my most recent trip to San Jose, as no other vehicle I saw there that evening stood out to me like this one did. What made this example more unique than other Porsche Caymans that I have previously seen are its likely Paint-to-Sample shade of blue that looks pretty similar to Sharks teal, yellow brake calipers and seatbelts, and its large and taller aftermarket rear wing with big yellow "GOD IS LOVE" lettering across the top of it. Overall, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 is a great track-focused sports car, and it looks amazing in this unique shade of blue featured here. In addition, the GT4 is definitely rarer than every lesser Cayman and Boxster model, making this recent spotting a sight to behold.
