Like the standard S-Class, the ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach S-Class was redesigned for the 2021 model year. The current Maybach S-Class is offered in two trims: the S580 and S680. The main focus of this post will be on the Maybach S580 since that is the specific model featured here. It is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 496 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque paired to a nine-speed automatic. It launches from zero to 60 mph in around four seconds and comes standard with Mercedes-Benz's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. On the other hand, the Maybach S680 is powered by a twin-turbo V12 with greater performance figures than the S580. The Maybach S580 contains the same engine, gearbox, drivetrain, and performance figures as the standard S580, except the Maybach version has a more flashy design and more upscale features and amenities. In addition, the Maybach S-Class has a seven-inch longer wheelbase than the standard S-Class to provide additional space inside its cabin.
Notable features on the Maybach S580 include a 48-volt mild hybrid system, air suspension, active sound cancellation system, rear-wheel steering, virtually every area of the interior covered in leather and other fine materials, heated, ventilated, massaging, and reclining seats, 64-color LED ambient lighting, and available additional rear seat entertainment options. Like the standard S-Class, the Maybach version also comes standard with a 12.8-inch center touchscreen display with Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Pricing for the Mercedes-Maybach S580 starts at around $185,000. Overall, the current Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is one of the most impressive and magnificent luxury vehicles out there. Like with the EQS in the previous post, after hearing that my local Mercedes-Benz dealer had one in stock, I had to go see it up close for the first time, and it was absolutely worth it.
Included below are additional photos I took of the current standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
