2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance: Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6
I am very lucky and blessed to have attended this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It certainly lives up to the hype as one of the best car shows in the world. First, I would like to begin with the vehicles that debuted during Monterey Car Week; however, I wasn't able to attend the other events that week, such as the Rolex Motorsports Reunion, just so you know. While I was there, I got to meet Jay Leno for the second time; the former Tonight Show host attends this coveted event every year and I happened to run into him at the Concourse Lawn at the right time. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept previews a potential Mercedes-Maybach S600 coupe and future tech that may be used on other Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The "6" in the vehicle name refers to the luxury cruiser's length of about six meters, which is longer than the current S-Class coupe. It is motivated by four electric motors, one for each wheel, producing 738 horsepower. Mercedes-Benz states the Vision 6 will accelerate from 0 to 60 in under four seconds and reach a top speed limited to 155 mph. They also mentioned that this vehicle has an estimated range of 200 miles and can be charged wirelessly in a matter of minutes. Its interior (not pictured) contains two analog gauges right above the steering wheel, a digital display screen that wraps around the center console and the doors, seats that extend to the lower door panels and center console (many concept cars do this), and an elm wood floor also extending to the door panels. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is an absolute stunner; if it ever goes into the stages of production as is, it should have a powerful V8 and V12 available in addition to the electric powertrain.
