Mercedes-Maybach SL680

 

The Maybach SL680 is the newest and most luxurious version of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship roadster. It is an all-new rendition of the SL for 2026 and is motivated by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the AMG SL63 with 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Maybach SL680 can launch from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and is capable of a top speed limited to 160 mph. Compared to its AMG counterparts, the Maybach SL weighs roughly 400 pounds heavier, excludes launch control, and contains a softer suspension, more sound-deadening material, and a quieter exhaust. Its most significant exterior enhancements consist of a Maybach signature multi-slat chrome grille, Maybach-specific wheel options, a satin black hood with a Mercedes-Benz Three-Pointed Star hood ornament on top, a Maybach-branded soft top, and additional chrome trim. I find it interesting that the SL680's soft top is covered in Maybach logos and see this as a cool and unique design touch. Only two exterior color options are currently available on the Maybach SL680: bright red and white. Its interior can only be configured in white leather, and besides carrying all the same standard interior equipment as the AMG SL63, the Maybach SL680 adds extra seat padding, a new stitching pattern, and a two-tone white and black design for the steering wheel. 

Pricing for the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 starts at a tad below $226,000, with options pushing its total cost past $230,000. This particular example pictured here is the first Maybach SL680 that I have seen in person and currently for sale at my local Mercedes-Benz dealer. Once I found out that a new Maybach SL680 arrived at my local Mercedes-Benz showroom, I knew I had to make the trip there after the last BMW CCA Cars and Coffee and my local Porsche dealer on Saturday to check it out, and I am certainly satisfied with my decision to do so. It is also the most valuable and arguably the coolest car my local Mercedes-Benz retailer has to offer right now.
