Apollo IE "Ocean Dragon"

Here we have another familiar hypercar to Exotics on Broadway in the form of the Apollo IE. Both last year's and this year's shows displayed one Apollo IE example each year, but this year's show had a different example dubbed the "Ocean Dragon" compared to the fully bare carbon fiber example from last year. Short for "Intensa Emozione," or "Intense Emotion" in Italian, the IE was unveiled in 2017 by German boutique supercar manufacturer Apollo Automobil, with production officially beginning in 2019. Powering the Apollo IE is a Ferrari-sourced 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V12 churning out 780 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque paired to a Hewland six-speed sequential manual gearbox. It launches from zero to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 208 mph. The Apollo IE was co-developed with aftermarket firm and AMG spinoff HWA AG and pays homage to the GT1 racing class from 1994 to 2012. It contains a lightweight carbon fiber chassis and body panels along with a striking interior constructed of leather and carbon fiber trim to complement its bold exterior design. As for this particular "Ocean Dragon" IE, its nickname is attributed to its bare carbon fiber finish with blue stripes, accents, interior leather, and other trim pieces.

Only ten units of the Apollo IE will ever be made, with each example carrying a starting price close to $3 million and already sold out. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have now seen two Apollo IEs up close, both of which wouldn't have been possible if I didn't attend the two most recent Exotics on Broadway shows in Monterey. Overall, the Apollo IE is a fantastic, insane, out-of-this-world, and alien spaceship-like supercar with an unbelievable level of performance, flair, and exclusivity that few vehicles can match.
