The S8 is Audi's sportier and more performance-focused full-size sedan. It gets a boost in performance from the regular A8 while remaining super luxurious. Powering the new S8 is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 563 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It launches from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed limited to 155 mph. The S8 has a sportier appearance than the regular A8, but the differences between the two are rather subtle. In addition, the S8 has an improved suspension, improved brakes, and an upgraded powertrain over the standard A8. Inside, the A8 and S8 have the most luxurious and tech-savvy interiors of any Audi model ever produced, complete with a dual-screen center display, multi-color LED ambient lighting, and several rear seat amenities. When the S8's doors are opened, the car's suspension slightly raises itself as to greet the driver and passengers. Its climate vents are hidden until the climate controls are activated as to not mess with the smooth and streamlined look of the dashboard. Like every new Audi model, the S8 has Audi's Virtual Cockpit System that is completely configurable and one of the best and coolest in the auto industry.
Pricing for the 2021 Audi S8 starts at $131,945. In all, the new Audi S8 is an incredible and underrated flagship sedan that combines luxury and performance very well. However, my top choice in the flagship performance luxury sedan segment is the Mercedes-AMG S63, especially the upcoming 2022 redesign that will be unveiled and released sooner or later.
