Frequently Asked Questions Vol. 2

Within the second year of this website's existence, I answered many of your questions in the first Frequently Asked Questions post. Here's more questions that you, the viewers, have been wanting to know about me and this website:

Q: What is your favorite city for car spotting?

A: Out of all the cities I've traveled to, Los Angeles would have to be my favorite city for car spotting. There is a large variety of vehicles in LA, along with nice weather and a tremendous concentration of wealth. It is also the largest market for several brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Jaguar, and Ferrari.

Out of all the cities I haven't traveled to, the best place for car spotting would have to be Monte Carlo in the principality of Monaco. Some of the world's greatest, most expensive, and most exclusive vehicles call Monte Carlo home, based on many videos I have seen online. Dubai would be a close runner-up in this instance. In case you didn't know, Dubai's police fleet consists of supercars and other performance cars, such as a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin One-77, Mercedes-AMG G63 modified by Brabus, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren MP4-12C, and more.

Q: What car brand available overseas would you want offered in the U.S.?

A: There isn't any brand in particular that isn't available in America that I want sold stateside. However, there are some vehicles sold in select markets that should be available in the States (if only these automakers would allow), such as the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, BMW 5 Series Touring, Holden HSV GTS/Maloo, Ford Falcon (Australia), Audi RS6 Avant, and SEAT Leon Cupra. The photos below date back to June 2014 when I traveled to China.

Q: If you could revive one deceased car company, what would it be?

A: I would revive Pontiac if I had the power to revive any defunct car company. The Pontiac brand had a bright, exciting future ahead of it before it ultimately went under following GM's chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the Great Recession of 2008. Pontiac was about to roll out the G8 Sport Truck, a modern-day El Camino, and convert its entire lineup to rear-wheel drive only before its untimely death. Other reasons why Pontiac went under include atrocities like the Aztek, Sunfire, and G3, and the fact that GM had too many brands under its belt before and during the recession. In short, the more American performance cars, the better.

Q: What are your thoughts and feelings on autonomous (self-driving) cars?

A: I am not a fan of cars that drive themselves. The advancement of autonomous technology worries me. I love driving, and I would hate for that feeling to completely disappear. Also, there are too many issues with self-driving vehicles, such as the great probability of the vehicle getting hacked by anyone, software glitches, increased chances of a crash, and so on and so forth. According to recent trends, more and more young people are not interested in driving or receiving their driver's license and would rather rely on the city bus or ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft to get from point A to point B. Additionally, the rise of autonomous cars will cause insurance companies and auto repair shops to go out of business. However, this isn't all terrible. Individuals who are deaf, blind, or physically unable to drive can get around more easily with autonomous vehicles. These vehicles can communicate with other vehicles to prevent accidents and traffic jams, saving time and lives. From my perspective, most people have a negative perception of autonomous cars, and I hope that doesn't change anytime soon. If autonomous cars ever hit the streets, I hope they remain in limited quantities to prevent society from becoming bland and parking structures from getting demolished. The self-diving Lexus RX 450h below was spotted going across the Golden Gate Bridge in May of 2013.

Q: Will you ever feature any motorcycles on your website?

A: I don't plan to. The main reason for this is that I am not as interested in motorcycles anywhere near as much as automobiles. Also, I don't know too much about motorbikes either. For instance, I can't determine the make and model of a bike without looking for badges and labels.

Q: Who is your favorite race car driver(s)?

A: In NASCAR, it would have to be Jimmie Johnson. He races a Chevy and has won seven championships so far. In Formula 1, it would have to be Lewis Hamilton. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Formula 1, Hamilton is a driver for Team Mercedes AMG Petronas, which has dominated for many years lately. I don't have a favorite IndyCar driver; I like them all the same. I focus more on the cars than the drivers in endurance racing. Lastly, my favorite RallyCross driver would have to be Ken Block. He is capable of performing many stunts that most drivers would not be able to pull off, as displayed in the Gymkhana video series on YouTube, and an overall cool guy.

These are all the questions I am able to get to in the second installment of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. Thanks!
