BMW M5 Touring (G99)

For the first time in the U.S., BMW has added a wagon version known as the Touring to its M5 lineup. The M5 Touring entered the U.S. market beginning for the 2025 model year and is motivated by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 paired to an electric motor producing a combined 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to a rear-biased all-wheel drive system through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Its 0-60 mph launch time is estimated at 3.2 seconds, while its top speed is rated at 190 mph. The new M5 can also travel 25 miles on pure electricity per charge. The M5 Touring's main advantage over the M5 sedan is the Touring's additional cargo space over the sedan. More specifically, the M5 Touring provides a total of 18 cubic feet of rear storage space and up to 58 cubic feet of storage space with the rear seats folded flat. Like the M5 sedan, standard equipment on the M5 Touring include rear-wheel steering, an adaptive suspension, large brakes, leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a 14.9-inch touchscreen with BMW's iDrive 8.5 interface, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display.

Pricing for the BMW M5 Touring starts at around $125,000. Recent reports from BMW have suggested that demand for the M5 Touring has exceeded the automaker's expectations for it, with roughly 60 percent of all new M5s sold are of the Touring version compared to 40 percent for the sedan. Showcased here is the first M5 Touring I have ever taken photos of, which occurred recently at my local BMW dealer. It was also the second M5 Touring that I have seen in person and an unexpected occurrence for me. This was unexpected due to me intending to visit just the Audi/Porsche dealer next door when I took a quick peek at the BMW side of the lot and only found out about this M5 Touring in the showroom after getting approached by a salesman. As many avid followers of this site are aware, I am a big fast wagon enthusiast, and I was blown away the moment I saw this M5 Touring up close. Although I prefer the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon, the BMW M5 Touring is by far the coolest and my favorite BMW currently on sale. In fact, I see the new M5 Touring as one of the greatest BMWs of all time due to its fusion of all-around performance and practicality that no other Bimmer has been able to replicate. The new M5 has been designed and engineered to accommodate a wagon version better than any other M5 before it. I am glad that BMW now offers a wagon version of the M5 in the States, and having the opportunity to take photos of one and feature them here for the first time was absolutely worth the wait.
